Accessibility

Reference Site: Firetower Coffee is a fictional portfolio project by CTE Digital LLC. This accessibility statement demonstrates best-practice documentation for a real restaurant site.

Firetower Coffee is committed to making our website and physical shop accessible to everyone. Good coffee should be available to all — and that extends to the experience of visiting our site and our front door.

Web Accessibility

We aim to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards throughout this site. Our implementation includes:

  • Color contrast ratios meeting 4.5:1 for body text, 3:1 for large display text
  • Descriptive alt text on all meaningful images and SVG icons
  • Logical heading hierarchy (H1 → H2 → H3) on every page
  • Full keyboard navigation — every interactive element reachable without a mouse
  • Visible focus indicators on all interactive elements
  • Semantic HTML throughout: nav, main, footer, section, article, address
  • All form inputs have associated visible or screen-reader accessible labels
  • ARIA roles and labels applied wherever native HTML semantics are insufficient
  • No content that flashes more than 3 times per second
  • Text scales without loss of content at up to 200% zoom
  • prefers-reduced-motion honored — all animations pause when system setting is active

This site was designed and built by CTE Digital LLC with accessibility as a core requirement. If you encounter any barrier, contact us immediately and we will treat it as a priority fix.

Known Limitations

  • Third-party delivery platforms (DoorDash, Uber Eats, Grubhub) are controlled by those companies and may have their own accessibility gaps outside our control
  • The scrolling announcement bar is automatically paused when prefers-reduced-motion is enabled
  • Some legacy mobile browsers may not fully support CSS custom property inheritance used in our design system

We completed our most recent full WCAG audit in October 2024. We re-audit with every significant build update.

Physical Accessibility

Our Fire Tower Road location was built with full accessibility in mind:

Step-Free Entrance
Ground-level entry from Fire Tower Road and the rear lot. No steps or ramps required at either entrance.
ADA Restroom
Single-stall with grab bars, 60" turning radius, accessible sink height. Automatic door on request.
Accessible Parking
Van-accessible designated space in the rear lot, directly at the back entrance. Marked and signed.
Lowered Counter
34" order counter section for wheelchair users. Staff deliver orders to any seat — just ask.
Wide Aisles
Minimum 36" clearance throughout the dining area. All seating is moveable for flexible configuration.
Service Animals Welcome
Service animals always welcome inside. Water bowl near the entrance. Relief area at rear of lot.

Assistive Technology

This site is tested against NVDA + Chrome and VoiceOver + Safari during each build cycle. We support keyboard-only navigation, voice control software, and screen magnification tools. Every interactive element has a descriptive accessible name.

Reduced Motion

When prefers-reduced-motion: reduce is active in your OS or browser, all animations and scrolling marquees on this site are automatically paused. No additional opt-in is needed.
